Welcoming a baby to your family by birth or adoption is huge! Your family is forever changed! It is a moment in your family’s story you are going to want to remember forever. The newness of this new life passes so quickly and his or her newborn photos will be cherished by your family forever. Typically Castle Rock families want newborn photos scheduled are when your baby is a week old. These are some of my favorite sessions!
There are many reasons why a family will wait until their baby is a little older to schedule their Denver Newborn Photos. Some mamas need a little more time to recover, I know I did with my first baby! We took our photos around 5 weeks. Sometimes babies are in the hospital longer than expected. The list for needing to schedule a later newborn session is endless, and it’s really no big deal if you choose to get your newborn photos taken later. In fact, some of my favorite sessions have been between 6-12 weeks old.
Whether by choice or out of circumstance, there are so many perks of waiting to schedule your Castle Rock newborn photos until they are 2-3 months.
At 2 to 3 months old, babies generally can make eye contact and you can easily get them to smile. They have these little emerging personalities that begin to shine around the 3-month mark.
Every woman heals from birth in their own time. Not rushing to schedule your newborn photos might be exactly what you need. This may be especially true for C-Section mamas. I had a vaginal birth and I know I didn’t feel up for newborn photos within 2 weeks of the birth of my first. Waiting to schedule your Castle Rock newborn photos until 2 to 3 months gives you more time to feel better.
Your baby will have more head control by this time allowing for a wider range of posing options and they likely still like to be swaddled for scrunchy photos. It’s also so fun to photograph babies showing off their tummy time skills.
Those first few weeks are wonderful and full of snuggles and sleey scrunchy newbies but phew, that lack of sleep is a doozy! I barely remember those first weeks after having my firstborn. By 2 months into your parenthood, you’ll be feeling more confident. You’ll become pros at feeding and understand the nuances of your baby.
Your baby might be larger than at birth but those little feet, dimpled hands, and chunky baby rolls will still be there. And waiting to schedule your newborn photos until 2 to 3 months may allow for those delicious thigh rolls to thicken up.
You never know how a sibling is going to react to their baby brother or sister, especially if they are younger than 3 and are used to being the only child. It is a huge adjustment for the older siblings. Waiting to schedule your Castle Rock Newborn photos will help your other children have plenty of time to adjust.
So in my professional opinion, there are no downsides to taking newborn photos between 2-3 months… only upsides!
